On January 8, 2026, Lieutenant Governor Kyle Evans Gay, alongside the Delaware Arts Alliance, hosted the Creative Economy Convening Celebration! The group convened in the Tatnall Building in Dover, DE and celebrated individual & collective progress in 2025 and kicked off our goals for 2026!

Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay started off the meeting by celebrating the artists, arts administrators, and creatives who help shape Delaware’s vibrant creative economy. Ashley SK Davis with the Delaware Institute for Arts Education (DiAE) was then invited to lead the group with a Movement Experience. Ashley highlighted the importance of Teaching Artists in Delaware and demonstrated this with a brief dance lesson. The participants were encouraged to connect the emotions felt during arts experiences with movement, helping to initiate connections and pour into the room’s creative juices.
Attendees were then invited to participate in activity stations with the following prompts:
- Related to arts and culture in Delaware, what are you proud of from 2025?
- Related to arts and culture in Delaware, what are your 2026 Resolutions?
- Related to the CREATE Plan, what opportunities do you see?
- Complete Thank You Cards to elected officials, using cards with student artwork provided by DiAE.

The input from these activities will help inform future meetings topics, shape how DAA will advocate on behalf of the sector and help draw connections to other priorities in the Lt. Governor’s office.
The meeting concluded with Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay leading a reflection around key themes and connections made, engaging participants to weigh in as well.
