The organization received $1 million from the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) American Rescue Plan Travel, Tourism & Outdoor Recreation program to help create the plan.

Delaware Arts Alliance Executive Director Neil Kirschling says the First State’s studying how best to use Delaware’s creative resources is important. “Delaware really is blessed for such a small state to have a really rich array of cultural assets here in the state – museums, and theaters, and operas and music spaces.”

In addition to the comprehensive study, the Arts Alliance will also provide a detailed map of the creative economy and create comprehensive recovery plans to help make it resilient.

Kirschling says the primary goal is to maximize benefits for Delaware artists and the broader state economy.

“To be even more of a destination for the arts and be a place that utilizes the arts as an economic development tool so that individuals in the sector can make a living off of it and we can…utilize the arts to benefit other sectors.”

The Delaware Arts Alliance is working on the plan in cooperation with the Delaware Division of the Arts
