2) #WhyDEArtsMatter Campaign

In March 2017, DAA launched a new campaign to show the support of Delawareans in preserving funding of the National Endowment of the Arts, National Endowment of the Humanities, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and highlighting that the arts make a big impact in our economy and culture. Institutional Supporters can participate in the #WhyDEArtsMatter campaign through:

  • Letters sent to officials through VoterVoice
  • A specially designed Institutional Supporter postcard campaign
  • Social media campaign
  • Compilation of stories that demonstrate the impact of the arts in people’s lives (in partnership with DDOA)
  • In-person visits to federal officials on National Arts Advocacy Day (March 21) and state officials on DE Arts Advocacy Day (May 4)

If you are interested in a specially design postcard for your organization, please contact DAA Operations Specialist Jessica Ball at

3) #WhyDeArtsMatter Postcard Campaign

DAA has created a postcard template, which can be printed and mailed to elected officials to show your support of state and federal funding of the arts. You can get creative in spreading the word–host a postcard party and invite your friends to fill out postcards or share these virtually to your network. Consider using one of the “Top Ten Reasons to Support Funding of the Arts” in the message section.

There are two postcard template types for each campaign: one you can print on any home printer and one that you can have professionally printed.

Home Printing:
Download this 8.5” X 11” size template
Print on 8.5” X 11” paper
Fold and tape
Customize your message (consider using one of the “Top Ten Reasons to Support Funding of the Arts”)
Add postcard postage and mail to your elected officials

4) Delaware Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 Report

The Delaware Division of the Arts released the Delaware Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 (AEP5) Report.  The report shows that the nonprofit arts and culture industry generates $149.9 million in annual economic activity in the State of Delaware supporting 4,062 full-time equivalent jobs and generating $10.5 million in local and state government revenues, according to the study conducted by Americans for the Arts.

AEP5 serves as a powerful tool for communicating the impact of the Delaware arts sector on the state’s economy–which is critical ahead of the Joint Finance Committee’s decision to cut arts funding by nearly 20% and the June 30 vote by the General Assembly.

Please utilize AEP5 in your arts advocacy efforts to legislators.
